The Professional Standards Council of Tasmania was established under section 43 of the Professional Standards Act 2005 (Tas).

The Professional Standards Council of Tasmania was constituted in 2006 with 12 members nominated by each state and territory Attorney General, as well as one nominee by the Commonwealth Assistant Treasurer.
