Executive Director


The NSW Law Reform Commission is very pleased to announce the appointment of Paul McKnight as its new Executive Director commencing on 25 January 2010.

Paul brings extensive experience from the Department of Premier and Cabinet, where he was responsible for the delivery of high-quality and timely advice in a number of justice and human service portfolio areas, which include the Attorney General’s, Police and Health portfolios.

Previously at the Legislative Council, Parliament of New South Wales, Paul held the position of Manager, Procedure Office and Deputy Usher of the Black Rod, and before that worked in Operational and Strategic Policy at the New Zealand Department for Courts. Paul began his career at the New Zealand Law Commission.

Paul’s qualifications include: BA; LLB and LLM, and admission as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 1990. Paul also holds an Executive Masters degree in Public Administration (EMPA) through the Australian and New Zealand School of Government (ANSZOG).

Paul’s knowledge of public sector practices and management, and his experience in policy and law reform, will be of great value to the NSW Law Reform Commission.
